What is Commentarista?
Commentarista is a blogzine that aims to shed a humorous yet critical spotlight upon the world around us. George Bernard Shaw once said “When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth.” We hope that in reading Commentarista you will often find something to laugh about, while recognizing the not-so-hidden truths.
Currently our site has ten sections that are largely self-explanatory.
However you may be wondering about the “I Wish” section. We wanted to include this section on Commentarista because we feel that wishing is the most boundless form of commentary. When you wish, you are not only looking to the future, you are also making a statement about the present (either the absence of an object or condition in today’s world). Let us know what your wishes are by writing them in the “I Wish” comment section.
As for the Quickies section, this is where you will find brief commentaries on stories from around the web.
Who are 2Commentaristas?
We are two friends. We love politics, current events, language, books and to dish, critique, shout about, cry over, pontificate on and write about all manner of topics with and for our friends.
While we are the founding voices of Commentarista, we are not the sole voices on this site. Look around and you will soon discover the many saucy voices of our fellow Commentaristas- fantastic writers bringing us commentary from around the world. As is true with all writers, we would all appreciate your comments.

Why Commentarista?
Do you mean why the site? Or why the name? To answer the former question: at some point we thought it would be good to put this stuff out on the internet and see if there were others, aside from the captive audience who are our friends, who would like to share in this laughter. Hey, those who laugh together can change the world (we’re pretty sure no one famous said this, but that’s okay).
As to the latter question: we like the name because it sounds so much better than “commentator,” definitely more lively. The site serves up commentary on weekdays, on a variety of topics, from a variety of perspectives, in a way that aims to be interesting and amusing. Sometimes our tone will be lighthearted, slanted or humorous, while at other times it will be a bit more serious. And then there will be those topics on which we Commentaristas will have to put our collective foot down, hard. We think the legs say it all.
